The turquoise glittering Achensee is known as the biggest lake from Tyrol. Its 9 km length is the cause that it´s been called Tyrolian sea. The Achensee is beautiful with its crystal clear water and good water quality. It is up to 133m deep and has almost drinking water quality. It is the habitat of many fish species. It is also a popular destination for surfer, sailor and diver.

The Achensee is pretty cold Though: with around 23°C the Achensee offers fresh cooling in the summer 380 m over the Inn valley.

All around the lake are trails which invite to wander, hike, bike and to be active. Straight at the west shore from the Achensee is the Alpine Park Karwendel. Active holidaymaker can expect pure mountain fun – with fixed rope routes which lead over 5 mountain tops in the Rofan mountains.

In the winter especially cross-country skiing is popular, with cross-country ski-tracks partly on the shore. Winter wander trails and more ski regions near our hotel at the Achensee are completing the leisure offers in the winter at the Achensee.
